A LEGACY OF
FAITH AND SERVICE

The Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha opened in April 1976 and holds the distinction of being the first Gurdwara in Slough. Our journey began even before we had our own building, when our dedicated community gathered for services at the Barn Restaurant in Salt Hill Park.

Built on land leased from Slough Corporation, our Gurdwara cost over £70,000 to construct – a significant sum that was raised entirely through the generous donations of our Sangat. This achievement stands as a testament to the unity and devotion of our community.

Our Journey Through Time

Early Beginnings

Pre-1976

Before the establishment of our Gurdwara, the Sikh community in Slough gathered for religious services at the Barn Restaurant in Salt Hill Park. This humble beginning demonstrated the strong faith and determination of our early Sangat.

The community was growing, but lacked a permanent place of worship. Despite this challenge, regular services were maintained through the dedication of community members.

Planning and Construction

1975-1976

The vision of building the first Gurdwara in Slough became reality when land was leased from Slough Corporation. The entire cost of over £70,000 was raised through donations from the dedicated Sangat.

This was a significant achievement, as the community came together to fund the construction entirely through their generous contributions, showing remarkable unity and commitment.

Historic Opening

April 1976

Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha officially opened its doors, becoming the first Gurdwara in Slough. The opening ceremony was a momentous occasion for the entire community.

The ceremony was preceded by a grand procession from Salt Hill Park, led by an open truck carrying Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Ji, accompanied by Panj Pyare and a Granthi Singh. This procession marked a historic moment for Sikhs in Slough.

Continued Service and Gratitude

1976-Present

For nearly five decades, we have continued to serve multiple communities with unwavering dedication, always grateful to our Sangat, tireless Sevadaars, and above all, Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

We remain thankful for the opportunity to receive Maharaj ki darshan and to serve the diverse communities that we are proud to be part of. Our mission continues with the same spirit of service that founded us.

Our Continued Gratitude

We continue to thank the Sadh Sangat for their continued support, our tireless Sevadaars for their selfless service, and more than anyone, Guru Granth Sahib Ji for allowing us to receive Maharaj ki darshan and do our best to serve the several communities which we happen to be a part of.
